Join us for the documentary screening of Picking Up The Pieces: The Making of The Witness Blanketon Feb. 27, 2024 at Canandian Memorial United Church. This documentary tells the story of the creation of the Witness Blanket. In it, we hear from its creator, Corey Newman, the problems, collaboration, learning, and great many volunteer contributions from across the country that came together to make this installation a meaningful, memorable, and authentic way to honour the experience of the children who attended residential schools here in Canada.
To understand the creation and purpose of this amazing construction and then to view its touring replica in person in the West Vancouver Library (shown now until March 10) is a unique opportunity for us all to bear witness to our history as a nation.
Admission to see this film is free, however, donations to the IRSSS (Indian Residential School Survivors Society) will be gratefully received.
