Morris and Zachariah are half-brothers, but their lives in Port Elizabeth, South Africa are hauntingly different. While they save to buy a farm, White-passing Morris works in the city and dark-skinned Zach cleans and cooks in the small shack they share. When Morrie begins to woo a remote White woman for Zach by proxy, the State-borne racial divide the brothers have papered over threatens to tear them apart.
