The Marcus Mosely Chorale will present their Christmas concert, “I Can See the Star”, on Saturday, December 16th,

at 7:30 pm, Mt. Seymour United Church (1200 Parkgate Avenue), North Vancouver.

The concert features a gospel twist to some old Christmastime favourites, as well as some brand-new material to reflect the theme of the evening.

“The Star of Bethlehem was a very public and visible announcement of an amazing event”, explains Mosely, the Choir’s Artistic Director. “It also served as a point of reference for three wise sojourners or Magi to guide them to that event. In the late 1800s, another star served as a guide – in this case, Harrriet Tubman (a woman they called, Moses), guided by the North Star led 300 souls to freedom in Canada.”

“These are troubled times. The star inspires hope, offers light in the darkness, and is a call for the heart to look up and find inspiration. It’s a symbol that is not only relevant at this time of year, but a reminder that we can choose to follow a pathway of compassion and love”.

The Choir – conducted by Choral Director Darlene Ketchum – will be accompanied by an all-star band led by the Choir’s Musical Director, Bill Sample.

The show includes several songs from Mosely’s recently released CD, “Labour of Love”, which is up for several GMA (Canadian Gospel Music Association) awards, including CD of the Year, and Gospel Song of the Year.

Tickets are $30 ($25 for students and seniors) and can be obtained here, or by calling the ticket hotline at 604 770-1088.
