Too often, the public narrative implies (or boldly declares) that there’s a fundamental incompatibility between Indigenous Canadians and Christianity or other faiths. If you’ve been following our Indigenous Voices of Faith project, you’ll know that many Indigenous Canadians strongly disagree with those narratives.

We’ve interviewed 12 Indigenous Canadians about their religious faith and its interaction with their culture, published those interviews in a new booklet, and now we’d like to give you a chance to meet some of the folks we interviewed.

Will you join us on the evening of April 17 to hear from folks like Fr. Cristino Bouvette, Dr. Rose-Alma McDonald, and Maria Lucas who’ll be sharing their stories of faith?

At Cardus, we want to amplify the voices of Indigenous Canadians speaking for themselves about their religious commitments, which sometimes clash with the typical public presentation of Indigenous spirituality. And we hope you’ll join us for an evening of conversation and warm hospitality. And we’ll have copies of the Indigenous Voices of Faith booklet available for you to take home.

Register here to join us for this free Indigenous Voices of Faith evening at the Cardus office in Ottawa, 45 Rideau St., 7th floor. If you’re unable to attend in person, we will also be live-streaming the event. We’re looking forward to seeing you there.
