Regent Exchange invites you to come hear the story of how the African American church has engaged critical social issues within their communities, both historically and in our present day. We will also discuss how their experience can inform church engagement in our own contexts.
SPEAKERS
Dr. Forrest E. Harris is the President of American Baptist College in Nashville, TN. He also serves as Professor of the Practice of Ministry as well as Director of the Kelly Miller Smith Institute on Black Church Studies at Vanderbilt University Divinity School. He is the author and editor of a number of articles, papers, and books including What Does It Mean to be Black and Christian? Pulpit, Pew, and Academy in Dialogue.
Phyllis D.K. Hildreth, J.D., serves as Vice President for Strategy and Institutional Advancement at American Baptist College in Nashville, TN, in addition to leading the Called to Lives of Meaning and Purpose Initiative at the College. Ms. Hildreth also serves as Associate Professor at the Institute for Conflict Management at Lipscomb University.
