The final concert of the 34th season is titled Coming HomeThis themed concert will feature selections that consider the concept and meaning of “home.”  The tale of King David and his son Absalom is presented in two contrasting settings:  Tomkins’ is one of the most famous settings among Renaissance polyphony, and Dinerstein’s is a compelling and highly-charged modern setting. As well, the song of Ruth considers an alternate view on homeland and family; it is set by Paul Ayers (“wither thou goest, there will I go…thy people will be my people”). Langager’s new setting of the famous poem A Passionate Shepherd to His Love by Christopher Marlowe sets the text, “Come live with me, and be my love…” The concert concludes with a set of Canadian folk songs, including the Alberta Cowboy Songs by Trent Worthington, and a tribute to the    Mohawk nation by Mark Sirett.  Ticket prices: $30 Adult, $25 Senior, $10 Post-Secondary Student, $5 Child (up to Grade 12).  Email:  http://phoenixchoir.ca/product-catalog.  604-757-0389 or email [email protected]
