All people of good will are Welcome

Sunday 16 June, at 3:00 pm @ the Chinese Consulate, 3380 Granville Street, Vancouver

As Canadian Christians,

We are concerned about the grave & looming threat to human rights and freedom in Hong Kong.

We support our sister Churches in Hong Kong and all Hong Kongers trying to keep their freedom.

The Bible says:  “What does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?”  (Micah 6:8)

We implore all Christians and all people of good-will in Canada to join us in prayer & in action.

We call on the Hong Kong Government & the Hong Kong Police:

  • To Respect the Human Rights of the People of Hong Kong
  • To support the people in their struggle for democracy and the Rule of Law
  • To protect the demonstrators’ right
  • To protect their freedom of assembly, freedom of speech, & their Press freedom
  • To listen to & dialogue with the Churches, Religious Groups & Civil Society

in order to increase civil rights and preserve religious freedom in Hong Kong.

All these Rights and Freedoms, we Christians proclaim as God-given to each person on earth. We want for Hong Kong the same basic rights and freedoms enjoyed by all Canadians: democracy, rule of law, basic civic freedoms, and most of all: Freedom from Fear. (UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights)

We call on the Government of Canada to help Hong Kong.

We call on all Canadian Christians & people of good-will to help the people of Hong Kong

  • to Maintain and Enhance the freedom they have
  • a Freedom from tyranny, dictatorship, religious persecution, concentration camps, & unjust and arbitrary judicial systems

The Bible tells us that God sees our suffering and afflictions.

“The Lord said, “I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering. So, I have come down to rescue them….” (Exodus 3:7-8)

–We pray to God: “Rise up and help us; rescue us because of your unfailing love.” (Ps. 44: 26)

–We say to the people of Hong Kong, the Word of the Lord to us is: “Fear Not!”

St Paul tells us: “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”  (Eph. 6:12) and

“It is the LORD who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”  (Dt 31:8)
