Between 1923 and 1930, some 21,000 Mennonites migrated from the Soviet Union to Canada. To mark the centenary of the beginning of this migration, events were held across the country in the summer of 2023. Mennonite Historical Society of BC participated by organizing a cross-country train tour that traced the initial journey taken by Russlaender immigrants. Tour participants participated in celebrations and memorial events along the way.

The Russlaender Migration: From Revolution to Reflection tells the story of the 1920s migration and its commemoration a century later.

Directed by Andrew Wall, this documentary was produced by Refuge 31 Films with the Center for Transnational Mennonite Studies and the Mennonite Historical Society of Canada, with funding from the Government of Canada.
