The country of Cote d’Ivoire in West Africa was colonized by the French till 1962. The largest religion is Islam followed by over 40% of the population. One third of the people would identify as Christian and most of those are Roman Catholic.

In the north of the country, the need is for a witness to Christ among the majority Muslim population. In the rest of the country, while churches are being established in the urban areas across the country, they are mostly new and independent. True followers of Jesus Christ are challenged in their faith. This includes laying aside traditional animistic beliefs and placing their focus on Christ rather than on prosperity teaching, miracles and healings. Come see what this means for the work of SIM in Cote d’Ivoire.
