Paraguay is a land-locked country in South America. Nearly half of Paraguay’s population lives in rural, dispersed, and subsistence communities. Only about 50% of the population is literate. Therefore, SIM Church planters use oral learning in the Guarani language to evangelize, disciple, and train church leaders. Evangelical believers are only 8% of the population, but most of those are in the cities, leaving the rural areas where SIM works with less than 2%. Many of those who belong to Paraguay’s 19 indigenous groups live in small, scattered communities without sufficient access to God’s good news. Nearly half of Paraguay’s population is under 20 years old and many evangelical churches are also very young. SIM Paraguay is equipping leaders and this young generation of believers and reaching out to indigenous groups. Come explore Paraguay virtually with us to know more about this country and its needs.
