This year, we have been practicing intentional spiritual relationships as a tool for our spiritual growth. This initiative is called Life Together: Growing in Christ through Spiritual Friendship. This event will be the last seminar of this series and we encourage you to share this event with those from other church communities that you feel would appreciate it.
In our Christian journey, we are not alone—indeed, we cannot make this journey alone. We need others who walk with us, encourage us, and help us make sense of the challenges, difficulties and trials of life but particularly how God is present to us in that journey. We need pastors, friends, mentors and teachers. And, many have found help, as well, in the ministry of spiritual direction. This seminar will consider this ministry from two sides—both those who offer this ministry and those who would like to take advantage of this ministry in their own lives. We will consider spiritual direction as one of the ministries of the church and as potentially a vital ministry.
Cost: $10—includes a copy of Gordon’s newly released book Spiritual Direction: A Guide to Giving and Receiving Direction, baked goods, and coffee. Childcare will be provided.
Guest speaker Gordon T. Smith is the president of Ambrose University College and Seminary in Calgary. He is also professor of systematic and spiritual theology, and over the last few years has taught at a number of theological schools, including Ambrose, Regent College and Tyndale Seminary in Toronto.
