Read about last year’s seminar:

Paul Dyck, from the Canadian Member Care Network, asks “How do we care for our missionaries and their children as they experience life uniquely, with difficulty and much grief? Only as a combined team of sending church, mission agency, specialists and caregivers are we able to undergird them in practical and caring ways.”

A missionary couple set out in the late 1970s to provide God’s love to the people of one of the poorest countries on the globe. Almost four decades later, this couple is now transitioning to another continent to continue the work God to which has called them. This means leaving behind family members on three different continents. Their adult children experience grief as they feel they’re losing their home with their parents now living in a foreign country! The missionary couple/parents are processing their own grief. As their daughter stated, “This is how it feels to be homeless!”

“A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.” (Eccl. 4:12 NLT) Just as a 3-legged stool provides balance, structure and stability, so a team provides support, strength & safety!

Member Care Network (BC Chapter) and Missions Fest Vancouver have joined together to present this one-day seminar featuring guest speakers with a rich diversity of experience in overseas missions, church-planting, discipleship, international and community development, and education.

Participate in the discussion around role clarity between churches, sending agencies & specialists. Find out how the three strategic partnerships equip and enable our missionaries to thrive in their missions endeavors, how a team complements us in our inabilities and weaknesses, and how working closer together with strong relationships helps us to learn more, grow, and be more effective.

Often a lack of role clarity in a team means duplication, lack of support, inefficiencies, and sadly, premature exit from the calling God has placed on our lives.

We approach Missionary Member Care with humility and wisdom. For those unsure of how to care for those your church has mobilized, this is a good place to hear, learn, and take away practical applications to apply in your home church setting.

While it takes tremendous effort to prepare and mobilize a missionary couple/family, the work has only just begun. Our focus is around member care: supporting and caring for missionaries and their kids!
