Each day in the Himalayas, children and their families go the extra mile to receive an education. Children walk hours to the closest school and parents sacrifice income and sometimes risk everything to ensure that their children can be educated.
The Extra Mile is an inspiring, in-person event that will be hosted at Second Beach in Vancouver. Participants can walk or cycle in solidarity with children in the Himalayas who walk for hours to attend their nearest school. You have the option to walk 10km or cycle 50km around the Seawall or walk 5km past Lost Lagoon and around Beaver Lake.
Event Details:
– Saturday, June 3 at the Second Beach picnic site
– Event opens at 9:30 am
– 50km cycle and 10km walk begins at 10:00 am
– 5km walk begins at 11:00 am
– Refreshments served at 12:00 pm
