Please join Citizens’ Climate Lobby (CCL) to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Earth Day. Not all of us are able to focus on climate change right now. But for those who can, we’ll hear from climate leaders, learn about quick actions we can take to help climate change, and get trained. You can attend this virtual Earth Day event from home. Please join us, and (virtually) bring a friend!

Schedule of Events:

1:00 pm ET – Keynote speaker Dr. Katharine Hayhoe. Dr. Hayhoe is a world-renowned climate scientist, evangelical Christian, and host of the podcast, “Global Weirding”.

Dr. Hayhoe’s talk: Healthy People, Healthy Planet

As a pandemic upends our world, it reminds us of what really matters: the health and safety of our families and our loved ones, our communities and countries. Join Katharine as she connects the dots between our health and the health of our planet, and explains how burning fossil fuels and climate change threaten them both.

4. Depolarizing Within: A Better Way to Prepare for Climate Discussions, presented by Braver Angels [2.5 hours]

***We’re sorry, this session is full due to the overwhelming response to it. Please select a different breakout. We are thrilled by the response, and intend to offer more sessions on this topic in the future. If you would like to be notified when those have been organized please fill out this form. Thanks!***

A surprising aspect of today’s epidemic of toxic polarization between climate advocates and climate skeptics is that much is driven by how we talk with like-minded people about those on the other side. Too often we stereotype, dismiss, or ridicule our fellow citizens who differ from us in their perspectives on climate change. How we talk among ourselves about them fuels fires that threaten the progress of climate solutions. This workshop will help you become more aware of your inner polarizer, help you learn to depolarize yourself and teach you skills for intervening in social conversations with like-minded people when those conversations veer into contempt and ridicule for people who hold other views. Handout needed for this session, please print in advance, and have a writing utensil and extra paper to write on.

**Zoom log in information will be emailed to you prior to the event if you sign up for this session**
