The theme for the 2019 Week of Prayer for Christian Unity comes to us from Indonesia: “Justice, and only justice, you shall pursue” (Deuteronomy 16:18-20).

This year’s theme calls us to move from shared prayer to shared action. Drawing on the traditional values of Bhineka Tunggal Ika (Unity in Diversity) and gotong royong (living in solidarity and by collaboration), Indonesian Christians invite us to be a united witness, and an agent of Christ’s healing grace in a broken world, by making specific commitments to justice, equality, and unity.

The 2019 Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, Jan. 18-25, has the theme “Justice, and only justice, you shall pursue” (Deuteronomy 16:18-20) and was prepared by churches in Indonesia.

In a world marked by diversity in language and culture, we express our Christian faith in diverse ways. During this week we are called to celebrate this diversity and be faithful to Christ’s call for the unity of his Church. All are invited to join with brothers and sisters of various churches in prayer, song, and witness to unity as followers of Christ. For more info, contact the Ministries and Outreach Office at 604-683-0281.
