“The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it…” (Psalm 24:1, NIV)

Welcome to Trinity Western University, Canada’s first and largest Christian university, established in 1962. The TWU English department hosted the 2007 Western regional conference on Christianity and Literature, and we are once again delighted to be hosting you here. We hope that you will find the theme of this conference, “ConVersing/ConServing: Care, Creation, Communion,” to be an opportunity to reflect, renew, and relate in meaningful ways.

In Caring for Words in a Culture of Lies, our conference keynote speaker Marilyn McEntyre presents literary art and the study of literature as a form of stewardship. Caring for words is akin, she says, to environmental concern and action, for we hold both language and the land in common. The conference invites presentations and conversations exploring the relations among literature and conservation, of serving together creatively to keep and pass on what has been given to us.

We look forward to your unique contribution to this scholarly forum that seeks to sustain faith, creation, and dialogue. We are honoured that you have chosen to engage with this conversation, and we hope that your time here will be fruitful.
