Looking for an opportunity to sing with a choral icon? What about a workshop and performance with the Canadian treasure – Louise Rose?!
Louise will be coming to Vancouver as the featured guest artist of the February 4th Black History Concert, Songs on Freedom, hosted by Marcus Mosely. Her performance will include direction of a mass choir that she will teach in a workshop leading up to the event.
Workshop participants will sing and learn with Louise on Friday night, Feb. 3rd and Saturday morning, Feb. 4th, and then join Louise for a performance at Christ Church Cathedral that night as part of the Celebration of Black History.
More About Louise:
A Pennsylvanian native, Louise now calls Victoria home. She was formally trained in piano, organ, voice, conducting and arranging. Her teachers included Oscar Peterson, Duke Ellington and Leonard Bernstein. She also did independent studies with Carmen McRae, Ella Fitzgerald and B.B. King. Louise is a sought-after vocal jazz ensemble clinician. She has played and sung with symphony orchestras in Canada and the United States, appeared in night clubs, operas, theatrical productions, touring shows and on cruise ships all over the world. She is an accomplished choral conductor, accompanist and private voice teacher. Louise brings a wealth of experience and grace to all she does. And she loves teaching.
For Louise, singing is about making a joyful noise… with one’s heart and soul. As you can imagine, her workshops are legendary.
Tickets for the workshop are $75 (plus GST =$78.75) and include a free ticket to the performance for those who will be joining us on stage.
