My friend said it best, “the pearl + the price

“It will cost you everything.”

I remember hearing those five words – running together like a string of pearls – almost twenty years ago. In September 2003, I was walking friends’ chihuahuas in the fog. I was being careful, cautious – walking amongst the roses within the castle gardens of Cardiff, Wales.

It was early morning. My heart was tired and unsure. I needed a glimpse of my future. In that place of uncertainty, I had a life-forming vision. The weight of that vision reverberates through my soul, even now.

I know the reality of the cost, and walking gently towards something. I know what it is like to feel blind-sided, coming through the fog – but with a fire in my heart. I write these words with the same fire and vision – knowing that spiritual gifts and covenant promises are given from an eternal hand.

Dr. Charles S. Price saw miracles unfold in a packed-out stadium on our shores – 100 years ago. And now, as a small group of my friends have been digging into his life, finding flickers of flame in his history, there is something remarkable happening: the heavenly realms – and the fulfillment of long forgotten promises – is becoming more and more real to us.

Yes, I do see the heartbreak and disappointments. I also see the many, many tears poured out. I see how the fragments are still picked up and carried by a few. I see how miracles are remembered in families.

On May 7, 1923, Dr. Charles S. Price began to facilitate meetings in a stadium that is now an empty field, It was his 36th birthday. He stood up in that place to speak a few simple words, and he somehow became the catalyst of 21 days that would mark the city for eternity. There are stories still told about the healings, signs and wonders. There are timeless words spoken softly (and often with tears) for how the Holy Spirit moved.

Charles was known as a humble man, with the anointing and grace to use his spiritual gifts. His daughter Ethel was with him. Early on in the meetings, a young girl named Ruby was healed of a crippling disease. The miracle was captivating and her wonder-full testimony catapulted many into faith for more.

Those two girls, Ethel and Ruby, became life-long friends. In the three weeks that unfolded, the miracles flowed and the masses gathered. The crowds came, and went. But the friendship between those two young girls remained and became stronger through the years. Birthday cards and bible verses, their friendship was birthed as a legacy of revival.

It is in that strength and spirit of faithful friendship that we are gathering again. We want to carry forward a mantle of revival, into the next 100 years. On May 20, 2023, at 2 pmwe will gather in a field at Devonian Harbour Park (close to Stanley Park near Denman Street and Georgia Street) in Vancouver, B.C.

Come with a heart to worship. Nichola Shilton, National Director for Burn 24-7 Canada, is facilitating and co-ordinating the worship for the event. You can contact her at: [email protected]

Come to contend for miracles in our beautiful city. Jonathan Christie and I used to both randomly but intentionally go down to pray in that field. If you have any questions or want to contribute to the event, please reach out to him at: [email protected]

Come with a heart for transformation. There is nothing more life-changing than a moment with your Creator. He is both healer and friend. For more information about the Burn 24-7 movement, go to this website: https://burn24-7.com/

A great cloud of witnesses will be there.

“Heaven’s kingdom realm can be illustrated like this: “A person discovered that there was hidden treasure in a field. Upon finding it, he hid it again. Because of uncovering such treasure, he was overjoyed and sold all that he possessed to buy the entire field just so he could have the treasure. “Heaven’s kingdom realm is also like a jewel merchant in search of rare pearls. When he discovered one very precious and exquisite pearl, he immediately gave up all he had in exchange for it.” Matthew 13:44-46”
