“Is it safe to trust God’s love?” It’s a question I wrestled with as I followed God to Afghanistan, and then as I came home four years later, too sick to continue my work as a doctor. “It is safe to trust God’s love—safe enough to risk? Safe enough even to rest?”
Many of you have heard bits and pieces of my story over the fourteen years I’ve been at First Baptist Church. Many of you have prayed and encouraged through my long journey toward healing. Thank you. I am deeply grateful. And I’m delighted to finally be able to share more of my story of God’s love and faithfulness with you in Risking Rest: Embracing God’s Love Through Life’s Uncertainties.
You can download the first chapter, read endorsements by Darrell Johnson and others, and find links to preorder the book at hearingtheheartbeat.com/risking-rest.
Or come join us on Friday, November 24, at 7pm in the Interface room at CPC (main floor) for the book launch. We’ll hear portions of the book, pray and bless its release into the world, enjoy snacks, Afghan music and photos as we celebrate God’s faithfulness throughout the living and writing of this story. RSVP to [email protected] by Sunday, November 19.
