Webinar Description: As North American churches navigate a season of rapid transition and significant pressure, how can we move beyond simply reacting to current challenges? This workshop invites church leaders to revisit the classical, enduring identity of the Church as both a “good neighbour” and a “hospital”, a place of genuine community, healing, and safety.
Rather than proposing new trends, this session draws upon historical strategies and contemporary insights from cognitive sciences, part of my ongoing PhD research, to offer a lens for future imagination. We will explore how these foundational roles can help congregations build resilience, cultivate a healthy culture, and minister effectively to their communities amid change. Join us for a research-informed exploration of how we can lean into these time-honoured identities to thrive in our current ministry context.
Presenter: Ejay Tupe is an urban missionary, Director of the Toronto Urban Missions Hub, and a PhD student in Contextual Theology whose work bridges faith, justice, and urban life. Born in the Philippines and raised in Mississauga, he has spent more than 20 years serving downtown Toronto, advocating for marginalized communities while leading initiatives that connect churches, civic partners, and those facing housing insecurity, poverty, and displacement. His ministry and research are united by a commitment to developing faithful, practical responses to the complex realities of city life.
