Join us for the next installment of the Be Palestine Series featuring Shadia Qubti, who will discuss her chapter “Noticing Sumac in Unexpected Places: Engaging Palestinian and North American Indigenous Writings on Land” from the book “The Cross and the Olive Tree.”
In this session, Shadia will explore the connections between Palestinian and North American Indigenous perspectives on land. The discussion examines how communities from different geographical contexts relate to their ancestral territories, addressing themes of displacement, belonging, and cultural identity.
This event offers an opportunity to engage with comparative cultural narratives and learn about the shared and unique experiences of Palestinians and Indigenous North Americans in their relationships to homeland.
Copies of “The Cross and the Olive Tree” will be available for purchase at the event.
