Join Elections BC for an overview of the rules surrounding advertising in local elections, including how to determine when advocacy and public communications may be considered election advertising under the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act. This session will introduce participants to the advertising rules, discuss some common non-profit scenarios, and help attendees understand where to find resources and information to ensure they remain compliant during the pre-campaign and campaign periods beginning in July 2026.
British Columbia’s next General Local Elections will take place on October 17, 2026, when voters across the province will elect mayors, municipal councillors, school board trustees, regional district directors, and other local representatives. The pre-campaign period begins in July, making this an important time for organizations to understand the rules that apply to election advertising.
Participants will leave with a better understanding of the local election advertising framework and where to access additional guidance and resources.
This webinar will be recorded and distributed to registrants following the session. Participants are welcome to join with or without video.
